The Home Makers Bazaar is a new venture in north London to give those of us makers a place to showcase what we create. Generally, the craft market scene has really taken off since Covid-19 but those of us who make as a hobby could struggle to find a regular place to show what we make. If you are not a career maker, or ‘artisan’ it could be a struggle to get a regular place at some of the better established markets. The Home Makers Bazaar (THUMB) aims to change this.

The Home Makers Bazaar had its first event on Saturday 18 March. We had over 20 sellers with a luxury cake /refreshments counter on top. We were hosted by the Belmont Community Centre, Belmont Circle, Harrow, London from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

We featured an array of new and established sellers including skincare range and home sewing newbies as well as a home-made punch enthusiast and a baby wear knitter.

We had sellers and patrons from as far away as Hackney, Crouch End and Finchley. Do not hesitate to get in touch if you are that closet maker, a little unsure if this venture is for you. If you have been making, love it, really prepared to do what is needed to get your makes out on display then, check us out and see if THUMB is what you have been looking for.

As a new venture dedicated to new and established makers and creators, we are not ideal for traders who are buying their wares to sell. Get in touch if you want to ask about this.

Sellers get a table and two chairs as part of their fee. There is also a parking space at the back of the hall for all sellers to load and unload.

The Belmont Community Hall is a very busy venue and is well-used by the local community. The venue has step-free access so is very suited to wheelchairs, push chairs/buggies and during the week, a Montessori school uses the premises.

The event has moved to Sundays to take advantage of free parking in the London Borough of Harrow.
